Da Silva received her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Massachusetts.
Vinny deMacedo is a former member of the Massachusetts State Senate, representing Plymouth and Barnstable District. DeMacedo was elected to the office on November 4, 2014. He resigned on November 29, 2019, to take a job in higher education. DeMacedo served as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1999 to 2015, representing the First Plymouth district.
He is a critical theorist, linguist, and expert on literacy, critical pedagogy, and multicultural education studies. Until 2019, he was a Distinguished Professor of Liberal Arts and Education at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He was also the founder of the Master of Arts Program in Applied Linguistics at the University of Massachusetts Boston and chaired the program until approximately 2012. He has published extensively in linguistics, critical literacy, and bilingual and multicultural education. His publications include: Literacies of Power: What Americans Are Not Allowed to Know (1994), Dancing With Bigotry, and Critical Education in the New Information Age. He also served as the editor for and contributed an introduction to Noam Chomsky’s Chomsky on Miseducation (2000).
Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School
Principal Williams is a New Bedford resident. He served as principal of the city’s Keith Middle School and of the Whaling City Jr./Sr. High School.
Williams received his undergraduate and master’s degrees at UMass Dartmouth.
